EU SF Projects

The Institute of Computer Technology participates in the preparation, design and implementation of major projects of the European Union Structural Funds (EU SF) in the field of information and communication technologies.

The focus of the projects is mainly on the field of computer technology, data center technology, video and IP communication, high-speed computer networks, wireless technologies and multimedia.

Significant projects and their activities include:

  • INFRA I – Infrastructure development and ICT modernization of the Technical University of Košice with the aim of improving conditions and education quality
    Project duration: 01/2009-08/2010
    Implementation of multimedia and interactive technologies, building 10Gbit/s network infrastructure, energy backup of data center, implementation of server technologies and data arrays, building digital classrooms.
  • INFRA II – Improving education quality at the Technical University of Košice through infrastructure building and ICT modernization
    Project duration: 09/2009-08/2011
    Implementation of building access network infrastructure, redundancy of data center backup, expansion of server technologies and disk arrays, telepresence technology.
  • INFRA III – Infrastructure development and equipment modernization of TU of Košice in order to improve educational process conditions
    Project duration: 06/2010-08/2013
    Implementation of unified communication system based on IP and video telephony for 2k users, virtualization of server technology, PoE network infrastructure, redundancy of 10Gbit/s network infrastructure.
  • UCITT – University Centre for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Protection
    Duration: 10/2009-06/2012
  • VUKONZE – Research Center for Efficient Integration of Combined Renewable Energy Sources
    Duration: 01/2010-11/2013
  • Slovenská infraštruktúra pre vysokovýkonné počítanie (SIVVP)
    Duration: 01/2010-12/2015
    The main goal of SIVVP is to establish regional supercomputer and grid centers at workplaces of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and Slovak universities and thus improve the technical infrastructure for a large number of Slovak research and development institutions that will be able to use the project results in the form of high performance calculations at European level. Building a computer infrastructure based on supercomputers and grids means ensuring the implementation of very complex numerical calculations for the areas of research and development. The Technical University of Košice is involved in the project as one of the project partners.
  • University Science Park TECHNICOM for innovative applications supported by knowledge technologies Phase I and II
    Duration: 07/2013-06/2018
    Elaboration of the USP information and communication platform implementation project, implementation and introduction of the information and communication platform into operation.
  • KC ZATIPS – Competency Centre for Knowledge Technologies Aimed at Innovation of Production Systems in Industry and Services
    Duration: 2011-2014
  • Package of elements for improving and innovating education at TUKE
    Duration:  01/2013-09/2015
    Implementation of functional system to comprehensively support development of innovative education forms at TUKE and provision of support services to effectively deliver multimedia educational content in TUKE conditions.
  • INFRA IV Improving conditions and education quality at TUKE through renewal and expansion of facilities and ICT modernization
    Duration: 11/2012-04/2015
  • INFRA V Improving educational process conditions at TUKE by facilities expansion and infrastructure modernization
