Computer Networks and Operating Systems Department
The Computer Networks and Operating Systems Department (CNOSD) provides activities in three main areas:
- Communication infrastructure of the TUNET computer network
- configuration and operation of all configurable devices in the communication infrastructure of the TUNET computer network
- WiFi eduroam/TUNET-guest
- monitoring and diagnostics of the communication infrastructure operation
- TUNET computer network services
- electronic mail
- identity management system and central authentication system
- web hosting – installation, configuration and operation of web technologies
- IP telephony, NetFax, Webex video conferencing system
- discussion clubs
- data storage management (disk arrays)
- backup of production servers
- IS to support the operation of communication infrastructure and network services
- monitoring and diagnostics of the network services operation
- Operating systems
- installation, configuration and operation of Microsoft OS and Linux OS
- operation of virtualization environment on VMware platform
In addition, CNOSD provides or contributes significantly to the following activities:
- Antivirus and antispam protection, TUKE firewall
- Management of licensing programs from Microsoft, Adobe, Ansys, Autodesk, VMware, IBM, MathWorks, ASPI – legal software
- IPv4 and IPv6 allocated address space management
- Management of tuke.sk, tuke.eu and canet.sk domains
- Operation of the SANET regional node at TUKE
- Operation of the SIX-KE peering center
- System support for school-wide digital classrooms and operation of digital classrooms at ICT
